My New Favorite Store

I have found a new favorite store: Target.  Or if you're feeling fancy, Tar-jay with an accent.

I have been reading a lot of fashion blogs in my free time, and by "a lot of fashion blogs," I mean about two.  But there seems to be a consensus on these blogs that Target has some awesome shoes and clothes for cheap and these bloggers have modeled their finds in such an attractive light that their minions - like me - feel compelled to make the schlep to the nearest Target and see what the hype is about.

I am so happy that I did.  Target is no longer the place for only q-tips and shampoo.  It is a fashion mecca!!

In the past week I have visited 4 different Targets and have brought home with me from these visits 4 pairs of shoes, 4 pairs of leggings, 2 hoodies, and 1 lonely mint green t-shirt.  And I am loving every single thing I have gotten there!

I am seeing everything in the home of the red bullseye in a whole new light.  I used to breeze past the Target shoe section with nothing but a dismissive glance, thinking that the shoes were cheap looking and weren't worth my time.   Now, either Target has hired new designers and made everything they offer more trendy, or it was always trendy and I was missing out!

Here's some of my recent finds (all images are clickable):

Target "Teala" Wedge in Yellow.  This immediately caught my eye because of the mustard yellow color and I love a good mustard yellow.  And you have to love the price - $24.99!  When I saw the price I immediately had a mind squeal and scooped up the last pair of 6s and promptly tried them on.

Target "Teala" Wedge in Chocolate.  This was the last pair of 6s in Chocolate so I scooped these up too.  At $24.99, it was too hard to resist buying both.  I got the Chocolate because I thought it would go with more outfits since its a more traditional color.  But truthfully I couldn't decide so I just got both.  (That was a really good time to have a girl friend tell me which color was better but all I had was a really bored Truongie who couldn't wait to leave the store.  Sad face.)  I really love the design of the wedge.  I like the horizontal straps a lot.

Target "Vivien" Sandal in Mushroom for $24.99.  At first my eyes completely passed this over but good thing my old roommate saw them and grabbed for them because they were an exact imitation of a Seychelles sandal that had been on the Urban Outfitters website.  On the shelf the shoes looked really blah and not my style, but once I tried them on and looked at their reflection in the mirror, I fell in love with them.  I mean it was love at first sight.  I like how they look from the front.  Too bad the store had only a 5.5 so I of course scoured 4 stores trying to find a 6 but this bad boy is sold out everywhere.  The 5.5 fits but I have a mental thing with shoes that are not 6s - I immediately feel like they don't fit and then I hesitate to reach for them.  I wish these were a 6 but I hope I will still wear them because they're just too cute!  And yes, I wear size 11.  Or I jacked that box because some fool took the size 5.5 box.

Target "Pearce" Pump in Camel Patent for $29.99.  Every lady should have a good pair of nude pumps.  I have a pair from Zara but those pinch my feet so I have been looking for a comfortable one that I can wear to work once I start my summer internship.  These have a lot of padding on the bottom so they're really squishy when you walk in them.  I would prefer that the tip be a little bit more almond shaped since the toe is very rounded.  But it's okay because the side view is cute and the extra toe room will hopefully translate to less pinched toesies.  I love how all the shoes at my new favorite store are so affordable.

And these are my attempts at modeling my finds.  I should say I am wearing head-to-toe Target and I'm proud of it!  I hope that you can appreciate the acrobatics I had to do to take a picture of the side views of the shoes.

I think the mustard yellow gives a nice pop of color to any outfit.  I like yellow.

I think these would look really good with a good skirt or romper.

I didn't take a separate picture of the leggings I got but they're really comfortable and opaque.  No more see through Forever leggings for me!  I had originally only bought one pair of black Mossimo "long leggings" to test out, but they were surprisingly really comfortable!  Even Truongie who usually laments the fact that I have ceased to wear "real" pants encouraged me to buy more because "they feel nice and they look good."  So of course I had to then scoop up two more black ones and a gray pair because of course you want to wear pants that "feel nice and look good"!

I am really into mint greens in just about everything from drinks to nail polish to clothes so a mint green t-shirt is right up my alley!  The t-shirt in the pictures was on clearance and you know how I can't resist the red clearance sticker.  In this case, I made a savings of a whopping three bucks, making the shirt $6.98.

Target, I shall be back!

Dreaming of tomorrow

When I'm finished with finals this semester, the first thing I want to do is eat a burger.  A juicy succulent monster of a burger equipped with simmering beef patties dripping in fat and cheese, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, mustard, mayonnaise.  I want everything on it.  Oh, I want fries too.  Nice crispy fries dipped in ketchup.

Then the second thing I will do is get on a treadmill because I will have gained 10 pounds alone by eating that same burger described so lovingly above.

Searching for my inner blogger

I recently remembered that I had created a lot of blogs in the past, so I went to go look for my little literary "chitlins" which I had so cruelly left to fend for themselves in the world wide web.  I was partially successful.

I found my xanga and my livejournal.  It was hilarious to look at what I wrote from two or three years ago and find that I was so negative and was sometimes pretty eloquent about my negativeness if I do say so myself.

But I could not find my Hotmail Live Space.  And you know why?  Because Hotmail no longer offers that service anymore.  And do you know what that means for us lowly former users of their live space service?  We don't have access to our accounts anymore because they have been deleted!!  Yes, Hotmail did the unthinkable and deleted all my old entries that I took hours of my precious time scratching my head to write on their increasingly confusing interface!!!  How dare they!  My memories are gone.  I will never remember what I wrote down back then when I felt the compulsion to write and immortalize my thoughts.  Judging from what I wrote in my xanga and my livejournal, there was only good juicy stuff in my live space, which has now been deleted and gone off the face of the earth.  The only way I can retrieve my memories is if Hotmail saved the data that was on live spaces onto a database and they allow me access to that database and get back what is rightfully mine.  This is outrageous!!  They should have at least let me know about it so I could have saved whatever I could have saved.  I am not a happy camper right now.

I used to have 2 xanga accounts, but the impulsive me decided one day long ago to delete the one whose title included "xoxchynaxdollxox."  I wonder what would have possessed me to delete that account?  Aside from the unfortunate name of the blog, I really wish I hadn't deleted it so I could see what was bothering my 15 year old self so much that I had to write it down and prove to people that I had a point.  Regrets, regrets.

Corn & Coffee

In today's news, I saw the biggest can of corn I have ever seen in my life.  I have helpfully put an orange next to the gigantic can of corn to demonstrate how monstrous it is.

Corn is cheap and I like corn!  You can get a can for 50 cents at Safeway on sale.  But I don't know whether I'll want to eat corn anymore if I ever get to dig into that can up there.

Here is a picture of some Starbucks instant coffee.  If you haven't tried it, you're like me and might not like coffee.  But Truongie says that it's really good so here's a bag of goodies for him.

I also have a bag of Cuties in my purse because who doesn't carry a one pound bag of tangerines in their purse along with a maxi pad for emergencies and some contact lens solution?  I do, I do!
